PhD and Early Career Researcher Conferences

The EuHEA PhD Student-Supervisor and Early Career Researcher Conference (ECR) is held annually in September.

About the conference

The EuHEA PhD Student-Supervisor and Early Career Researcher Conference (ECR) is held annually in September. The conference offers a unique opportunity for PhD students and ECRs to present work in progress and receive detailed feedback from both senior health economists and their peers.

Each paper is allocated one hour consisting of a 25minute presentation by the author, 15 minute detailed discussion led by a senior health economist, and 20 minutes for questions and general discussion from the audience.

In addition to the presentation of papers, delegates can participate in poster sessions and/or short “my research in 5 min” presentations.

The conference provides an excellent platform to advance a thesis chapter or research manuscript in preparation, network with your peers, and gain new insights and collaborations with others interested in your research area.

Early Career Researchers (ECRs) are defined as a pre-doctoral researcher or a post-doctoral researcher within 5 years of the award of their PhD.

The format of the conference strongly encourages attendance of both PhD students/ECRs and their supervisors, as supervisors act as discussants for another delegate’s paper. Supervisor is defined loosely for this reason, and simply refers to a senior colleague who is willing to attend the conference and discuss the work of another participant. PhD students and ECRs are, however, very welcome to attend the conference alone.
